After multiple months of dating in order to find the right woman to marry, Ben Higgins has finally made the decision that will change his life forever. Higgins had to choose between 24 year-old Joelle “JoJo” Fletcher, a real estate developer from Dallas, TX and 25 year-old Lauren Bushnell, a flight attendant from Marina Del Rey, CA. Higgins admits, “I am more in love than I ever was.”

On the first episode of The Bachelor Season 20, things seemed to be going great, but once the numbers started to trickle down, the decision of who went home next only became harder for Higgins, and his feelings developed quickly for the women still left in the competition. Multiple tears were shed throughout this season and disputes between the 28 women ensued. Audiences from around the world tuned in to see who would get sent home and who would make it through the next rose ceremony. Trust and friendships were broken within the group of women and spending time alone with Higgins became crucial to the ladies’ relationships and even more difficult to achieve as the competition progressed.

The uproar began as soon as Higgins did something no other Bachelor had ever done. Higgins said, “I love you” to two of the three girls remaining on the show. Many questioned his intentions and wondered if he knew what he was doing. It was one of the most shocking episodes, but sadly, Higgins had to let the third girl, 24 year-old Caila Quinn, a Software Sales Representative from Hudson, OH, go.

Now, with only two women to choose from, audience members anticipate the last episode where Higgins will propose to the woman he wishes to spend the rest of his life with. The audience had to wait an excruciating week to see the final episode, which aired yesterday, to see who Higgins chose, because the week before was the “Women Tell All” episode. This  is where the women previously on the show voiced their opinions on the house and on the other women’s actions. They also had the chance to defend their tactics and finally were able to ask Higgins himself why he did what he did, expressing their feelings on the matter to him.

This process has not only been hard for all of the women participating in it, but for Higgins as well. He has gotten attached to many of the women. On the “Women Tell All” episode, Higgins said, “I don’t think life prepares you for what this puts you through. You’ve done it and seen it, and it was excruciating. I never thought that was where my heart would go.”

To further answer the craziness and comment on the unexpected truth of telling two women so close to the finale that he loved them, Higgins openingly answered questions from any women that wanted answers, especially 23 year-old Caila Quinn, who was one of the three women left before the finale.  Higgins did not say “I love you” to her. During the episode, issues were cleared up, and Higgins helped bring closure to all of the women there.

What started with 28 women wanting to win Ben Higgins’s heart was soon narrowed down to two ladies. The last episode of this season’s, The Bachelor, was long awaited, and yesterday night, the woman Higgins chose was finally revealed. The live two-hour episode showed the last time Higgins spent a day with both Bushnell and Fletcher, before choosing the woman he wanted to marry and spend the rest of his life with. This final episode of the season has been very hard for Higgins. Higgins explains, “Being in love with two women… it’s tearing me apart. I can feel my mind in two different places, and my heart in two different places. I’m lost.” Higgins has expressed his difficulty with choosing his future wife, but in the end, he successfully makes a decision. It came down to the decision and as one of the women is sent home, disappointed and heartbroken the other was joyful and could not be the happiest person. It was the proposal no one wanted to miss, calling his future wife’s father ahead of time to ask him for permission, as he got down on one knee and proposed to Lauren Bushnell.

Soon after the show came the final final episode, After the Final Rose, after the last rose was given and after his proposal. Where Ben reveals to the audience the hardship that he had to come to about the two women, the ‘Jo Jo’ situation, bring back Bushnell to speak more on the engagement and finally who would be the next bachelorette. As well as ‘JoJo’ coming back to sheed some word on what happened sitting next to Higgins. “I remember that day and when you sent me home you kind of just left me with ‘I’m still in love with you, you’re my best friend, I can’t image my life without you’. So, those days and those weeks that followed that’s all I had to think about and I was trying to understand what went wrong. And then watching the season back and seeing your connection with Lauren, it was so early on and it really did help me understand why you ended up choosing her in the end. I think that you guys hit it off from day one and it took me a while I think, but I’m good friends with Lauren, I think she’s an amazing person and I think the world of you so. I mean I think everything happens for a reason and I’m really happy for you guys”. With surprise guest Jimmy Kimmel coming in to humorously ask Higgins and Bushnell questions, as they will be later be on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live after the show. Ending the show was Higgins wanting to properly propose to Bushnell with her parents and family members there to witness it.

The two could not be happier as the show comes to an end. Higgins and Bushnell can now live happily ever after and for the next bachelorette good luck is given to Joelle ‘Jo Jo’ Fletcher, said to air May 23.
