The Owatonna Wrestling team is proving why they are ranked number four in Minnesota. Whether it be in junior varsity or varsity, the Huskies have shown versatility and poise during their matches. Even with a new coaching staff, Scott Seykora and Adam Woitalla, the team has shown that they are completely up to the challenge of having to adjust to new situations.

Part of their recent success comes from returning talent from junior Peyton Robb is having an undefeated season.  Already as a junior, Robb has committed to South Dakota State University. Not only is Robb a part of their success, but leadership of many returning varsity wrestlers has played role in their success.

The Huskies wrestling team has competed in several tournaments meets and up to this point, each of which they have won without a doubt. A match with Big 9 opponents Rochester Mayo, Mankato West and Northfield in a tri- tourney have all ended with the Owatonna team coming out on top. Senior Josef Fox commented positively on recent success of the team. Fox said, “I like it a lot, Winning makes this sport much more enjoyable and it’s fun to be apart of a top ranked team in the state.” The Huskies’ first home match will be against Albert Lea on Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
