The Owatonna High School gymnastics team has continued to strive for excellence with the intent to make it to state two years in a row. The team started the year off with a different scores each meet but with the season winding down, the scores have stayed steady. The team is currently undefeated in the conference. Complications arose at the Austin meet, which resulted in the meet not being able to count due to improper equipment. Captain Emily An said, “We have started to focus really hard on the small details and perfecting our routines. With hard work we have put up good scores and are now ranked second in our section.”

The team is guaranteed to have three weeks left with the hope of an additional week at state. The gymnastics team has worked hard to uphold their high reputation that they made last year. Last years success has made the team set high goals for this year.  Sydney Kretlow said, “Our team goal for the rest of the season is to finish out our dual meets strong. We also want to win the Big 9 meet. We are hosting sections this year and hope that the meet will go well and it will bring us to state. We want to perform our best at state and place in the top three!”

The next meet is on Saturday, Feb. 11 starting at 3:00 p.m. at Red Wing High School. Sections are at home this year and will take place on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
