Swing Batter Batter

The Huskies Softball team have gotten off to a strong start this season, and are currently 2-1 on the year.  With wins over Red Wing and Albert Lea, the season looks promising.

The Huskies are led by a strong group of upperclassmen. Leading the pack are senior captains Braelyn Johnson, Ellie Rohman and Erin Steffenson. The junior athletes consist of Tiana Blazek, Kenzie Karsten and captain Rilee Schmidt. Through thick and thin, these girls have been playing together for years, and they work well as a group.  Junior Tiana Blazek said “We’ve been playing together for years now. We are 2-1 this year so far, and we had a good run against Red Wing. Beating them really put confidence in our bats.” The Huskies are looking to keep their hot bats rolling. This year’s squad has good chemistry together.  Junior Erin Peterson said, “Our season has been going pretty good so far, and we have been working hard in practices.  I think our team chemistry can take us pretty far as the season goes on.” Peterson, among the rest of her teammates, has high hopes for the remainder of the season.

Looking into the future for the season, Owatonna fans should be hopeful. The Huskies hope to start gaining some momentum, and keep winning more games as the season goes on. The girls hit the road against Mankato West on Tuesday April 17, and Faribault on Thursday, April 20, but will back at home Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Come support your Owatonna Softball team. Go Huskies!
