Apply this week!

seniors – Application fees waived and free transcripts.

Attention seniors! Do you like free things? October is College Knowledge Month and most Minnesota colleges- public, technical, community and private- have made their applications free. That means that the usual $20 fee for the State Universities is waived. Even the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, whose fee is $55, will be waived. Seniors can apply to more than one college.

Also free, for only this week, are the official transcripts that have to be sent to every college students’ apply for. Although the college applications are free all over Minnesota, the free transcripts are being offered separately at Owatonna High School. Typically the cost for the transcripts is five dollars. There are forms on OHS guidance office secretary, Mrs. Roxi Stewart’s desk. On the form, seniors will fill out the information of who they are and where they want their transcripts sent and she will send them. It is that easy and it is free. The Career Center will also try to bring all seniors down to the media center to help them out with applying. This will be today, Tuesday, October 28, and seniors will meet in groups with their counselors. The opportunity to apply and send the transcripts for free is all week.

This is an annual event, but is only effective from October 27-31, so seniors, take advantage of this deal! Mrs. Stewart said, “It’s not the first year, but this year we are really promoting it because we’d love for every senior to think about a college and take advantage of applying.” She also knows that some seniors have already applied to a college and may have even gotten accepted, but she suggests they still apply to other colleges because having an alternative plan is always smart.  The Career Center has a list of all the colleges who have free applications.
