Sydney Kasper warms up before the game begins

The Owatonna girls basketball team has finished their season with a 13-14 record. They travelled to the third seeded Rochester Mayo, hoping to win and advance in section play, after winning 65-35 against Mankato East. The Huskies were the sixth seed and played the Rochester Mayo Spartans, losing 63-42. The loss cemented the Huskies in fifth place in the Big 9 conference. The team played well in early February and went on a four game winning streak, broken only by Rochester Century.

The team was close group and shared many memories. A favorite memory of senior captain Sydney Kasper was the team’s annual trip to play in Duluth. Senior captain Anna Edel said, “I’ll miss playing in the OHS gym with all of my teammates.” The seniors that played for the last time on the hardwood were Anna Edel, Sydney Kasper and Madison Peglow. The team will return several key players for the 2015-2016 season. Farewell to the seniors, and thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.
