The OHS Girls Basketball team has had a tremendous season so far. The team’s overall record is 21-8 with a conference record of 19-5. On Friday, Feb. 23, the team won by a score of 58-52 against the Austin Packers. They showed that the Huskies are fierce competition in the Big 9. The Huskies finished the regular season strong and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. Head coach Lindsey Hugstad-Vaa said, “I’ve enjoyed my time watching the team come together and build team chemistry. They’ve been teammates ever since they were kids, so they are all good friends and unselfish with the ball.” Overall, the team has come together to have great ball movement and many players capable of scoring.
The team has a solid record this season, and they have a number two seed going into sections. Senior captain Sydney Schultz said, “I’m confident in our team. We can make it far into sections and hopefully make it to state.” This has been the girls’ same goal for the the past couple of seasons, but they have come up short so far. Hugstad-Vaa said, “We control our destiny. We just need to worry about us, and we will be fine. If we do what we do best, we can be unstoppable.” Overall, if the girls can do what they do best, the sky’s the limit. The Huskies will host their first game of sections against Rochester JM on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
