Fall is here so that means homecoming is right around the corner. Every year during homecoming OHS has a whole week filled with a bunch of activities, dress up days and to close it off, the dance. For the past few years the homecoming dance has been held at the middle school. Since the addition of the new high school, the dance will now be located at Owatonna High School.
After a lot of thoughts and voting, the theme of the semi-formal dance will be “We Got the Beat.” With the new school, lights and DJ, students should be prepared to dance, have a lot of fun and get to enjoy the new space. This is an exciting time for all the students at OHS.
Many people are excited for the new change including. Student Council adviser Casie Devos said, “We thought it would be a good idea to have it come back to the high school so we can feel proud and school pride, this is our building, this is who we are.”
Along with having a school dance, there comes rules and information every student should know. The dance will be in the auxiliary gym on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9:00 – 11:30 p.m. One can purchase tickets for $10.00 on the Hometown Fan app. Tickets must be purchased by 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28. You will be able to go through the athletic doors.
On the day of the dance students must walk in with their student ID and ready to scan ticket. There will be a place to keep coats and an opportunity to take pictures. There will be no food in the dance, but there will be water to purchase for $1, cash will be necessary.
Senior student council member Jaedynn Tjon said, “We’re expecting a good turn out because of the new school and new building but we’re hoping our numbers beat last year which was the best dance we’ve had.”
Students will get to dress up in their fancy attire and get all dolled up. This is a fun opportunity to come out and have a fun time with their friends. Be prepared to enjoy the new space and do a lot of dancing.
