The Owatonna Girls Swim and Dive team has finished six of the regular season meets with a record of 2-4. The team had their last home meet of the season on Oct. 14 which they won with a score of 93-67 against Albert Lea.
Going into the rest of the season the team looks to finish the season strong. Senior Laken Meier said, “ It’s kind of a bittersweet feeling coming to the end of my senior season. I am really excited and nervous going into Sections and Big 9 because it’s my last chance to prove what I can do.” Meier is looking forward to the bigger meets coming up. She is also nervous because as a senior it’s her last Big 9 and Section swim meet of her swim career.
The team has Section True Team at Rochester Century. Coach Isaiah Fuller has planned out a lineup that should help the girls do the best they can. Coach Fuller said, ” I’m hopeful we can do better than we have done in the past with New Prague moving into our section. We have a lot more competition but I’m looking forward to what the girls can do”. Mr. Fuller believes that the team can place high in the section even with the section getting more difficult with the new addition of New Prague. The Swim and Dive team has two more regular season meets this season.
The Huskies next meet is Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. against Mankato East.
