The Owatonna High school theater presents the fall play: “Peter and the Starcatcher” opening Thursday, November 2. The play will take place in the new OHS auditorium, and be the first show there since moving to the new school. The play is about the origin story of Peter Pan and how he became who he is. On a faraway island an orphan boy, Peter Pan and his friends overcome challenges and villains to try and save the world.
Theater teacher and director Erik Eitrheim, has been running plays since 2000. Eitrheim has done shows for 24 years now, and is very excited to present the fall play to the students of OHS. Eitrheim said, “The show is fun, funny, and very interesting. I think it’s a show that everyone would love to come see.” Not only is Eitrheim working hard to present the fall play. Many students involved are as well. Jay Mots said, “I’m excited to see how everything’s gonna work out and how we will put everything together.”
Lots of work is being put into the play this year, with a new school and new people the fall play is sure to run fairly smoothly. Eitrheim and his students have prepared by constantly rehearsing since the first week of school, working on the scene, working in the scene shop, making new set pieces, and writing sound cues and lighting cues. Although that sounds like a lot of work, the new school seems to help the Fall plays, and other plays run way smoother. More adapted to what they need, there is an easily accessible scene shop. Eitrheim said, “I’m most excited about opening a brand new auditorium with a really great show.”
The show opens on Thursday, November 2. The show will take place in the brand new OHS auditorium. Tickets will only be on sale through Hometown Ticketing. Here’s the link to purchase tickets: https://www.owatonnaactivities.com/ticketing
