Opinion: Effects of Ignoring Human Rights

Human Rights being ignored in the Middle – East conflict.

The current war being fought overseas against Hamas and Israel is leading to a counteraction and polarizing issue nationwide due to the constant flow of narratives and opinions. Through multiple lenses of life, society is experiencing a world filled with voices of influence and disruption in a war so beyond our comprehension. Creating a nation being characterized by voices globally, over this disturbance of respect. Only to see our generation form a community filter towards the ignorance of basic human rights.

In cases like Israel and Hamas, disputes over ownership of land and individual morals of eliminating an entire nation of Jewish descent are causing the world of social media to explode with interpretations. All the while Hamas believes that in order to achieve the goal of obtaining control, innocent lives will have to be lost. Viewership of all articles and stories relating to the pieces of the war is creating a reliant narrative to be made by thousands. Voices that are influencing their idea of passion towards protesting and supplying opinion on the issue.

America’s Response

All individuals have the right to express their perspectives of this intense war. These opinions are being broadcast to the nation in hopes of influencing a current opinion upon others. Responses to this war include a student from the University of Massachusetts punching and spitting on a Jewish student due to the flag being presented. This certain situation gives an example of how this Middle East conflict is influencing public statements in America.

The main reason that individuals are protesting their opinion on the issue is due to the universal problem occurring in our nation.  In America, our history was grounded on the First Amendment which grants protection for the Freedom of Religion. The current war is proving that our society has a distorted understanding of human respect and this freedom. Through these attacks, the Jewish society is seeing the current problem our world has towards those of differing values. Even though both sides of this argument have thousands of deaths recorded and personal reasons to fight back, citizens everywhere are crying out in pain for the targeted victims being used as spectacles for the nation to see.

While countless lives are lost, many ignore the importance of Human Rights. As though the rights of all people are being disrespected even though the nation upholds the importance of Human Rights Day on Dec.10. Proving that our society preaches what is true but through foreign affairs, sustaining these values of life become falsehoods of hope.

In reaction to mournful updates of this battle, protesters roamed the streets of Washington in call for the “Jew Voice for Peace” starting this idea of respect towards Israel’s right to obtain the dignity of human life. Participation rates have risen to over 300,000 along with roughly one million followers on social media are taking a huge step towards vocalizing their concerns for a war disputing over human life. By comparing experiences to reality, an entire religious faith can call upon one another for help and spiritual guidance. Bystanders to this war in Gaza have created a realization to be made by Americans; that we are all one nation. Therefore, what transpired overseas is being interpreted by U.S. citizens all in the hope of creating change.

Aligning to the Pro – Palestine mission, The New School rallied an indoor protest at the Big Apple main entrance, blocking further entrance to the facility. Enforcing their views on any and all students entering the building making chants describing the genocide Palestinians are facing. This protest caused disputes between bystanders and current students trying to enter. Only further creates an idea that if one’s belief is agreed upon, an outcome can occur.

Media’s Purpose

Connectivity through a catastrophic war eludes this idea of self-respectability. The commonality of human values are being ignored in this gruesome war of life and selfish wants. Proving that attempting genocide to an entire nation’s history is only causing the globe to react in a way of defense towards current standards of Israeli and Palestinian lives. Hamas is an open terrorist group that has disrupted this battle with one goal in mind; eliminating the Jewish population.

Whether opposed or in support of a certain demographic of people, Hama is terrorizing an entire nation to further enhance their disregard for basic Human Rights. Through ordering unexplained detainment for both Palestinians and Israelis, the true intentions of these illegal actions rise through the world’s media.

Our nation has fought for years on end to propose this idea of respect and acceptance through the adaptation of Human Rights. Only to see a war break out in opposition to the idea of human dignity. Demonstrating that a nation’s slightly misinterpreted idea of common respect can cause rippling effects to transpire through an entire globe.

Concluding View

A sense of individuality is conforming to the idea of what is right and wrong in America. Seeing a far-off nation fighting for their lives being slaughtered evades the idea of sectionalism being grounded in worldly people’s hearts. Causing a reincarnation of a divided nation to enter into a realm of relatability, concern and family aspect.

Both sides of this argument are professing their views on a topic seeming far-fetched due to the inactivity of U.S citizens. But, the regulations for distance can’t uphold the commonality understood upon the citizens of the world. Through social media, various protests, constant flow of articles and video footage of harsh punishment of Israel and Palestinians, our nation is linking together in hopes of implementing a mark on history’s fight for human rights.
