Swimming into the season

Owatonna swimmers are getting to compete against each other.

The Owatonna Boys Swim and Dive team started off very strong resulting in a win in their first meet of the season. They are coached by Peter Rhodes, Tara Lammers, and Chris Snow. Their current record is 2-0.

The Huskies lost eight seniors from last year. But they have a very strong team this year even with low numbers. The Huskies will continue to build off of their success from last year. Coach Rhodes will continue to push the boys and improve his team everyday. The Huskies have many goals for the season. Coach Rhodes said, “I would love to make it to state in either a relay or individuals, we are also chasing some records this year.” The Huskies hope to do well in section and conference play. Coach Rhodes said, “I would like to see us be fifth at Sections and fourth,, fifth or sixth at Conference.” Everyday the team looks to improve to reach their goals.

Senior captain Carter Quam is pushing the team to improve and be successful this season. Quam said, “I am looking forward to hopefully going to state and sending some individuals to state also.” The Huskies have been putting in a lot of work in the pool to be prepared for every meet. As the team continues to practice every day they are determined to do well during conference and section play and also hitting some records this year.

The Huskies have their next meet Saturday, Dec. 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Mankato East High School.
