As December arrives, it’s time to settle in and get cozy on the couch. What better way to do so then with a Christmas movie. The Hallmark Channel begins to flood with Christmas movies for all to enjoy. Hallmark has movies constantly streaming to get watchers in the holiday spirit. Through the years they have begun to move away from more stereotypical traditions, and started to be more diverse and inclusive to all.
All Hallmark’s Christmas movies are not only available on the Hallmark Channel, but also on the Hallmark TV app. OHS art teacher Scott Seykora said,“I have Hallmark with my TV provider and also have the app on my phone. It is kinda cool because they use a lot of the same actors and you feel like you kind of get to know them, even though they may play different roles”, The Hallmark TV app is a great way to watch more films of your favorite actors on the go.
One of the Top 5 Hallmark movies from 2023 is “A Biltmore Christmas” The film is about a time travel romance, where the character can go back and forth between the past and present. Where the character, her love interest, travels to the future and gives up his whole life to be with Lucy. While trying to put in place a cover story for his disappearance.
“A Merry Scottish Christmas” is another top movie that Hallmark has released. The film is all about a family secret. It’s revealed all estranged siblings travel to Scotland where they are reunited with their mother.
The next top movie released this December is, “Catch me if you Clause”. The movie is about a man breaking into a house claiming to be Santa’s son. However, there is a slight problem as the police are in search of a thief supposedly dressing like Santa, but they put their trust in each other as they team up to investigate the Santa crooks mystery. It turns into more of a romance as it leads to their first kiss. The film is an example of not moving or giving up on a dream for one another. Yet still pursuing and working out the relationship that has come about starring Italia Ricci and Luke Macfarlane.
The top film is “Where Are You, Christmas?” This Holiday film is about how after wishing a whole entire year for Christmas Addy must put her foot down and work together with the town’s main mechanic, in hopes of restoring the Christmas holiday, and all of its good glory. Starring Lyndsy Fonseca whose role is Addy.
The last top film Hallmark has released is “Christmas Island”. This film is a romance going from enemies to lovers with the one and only Oliver. When Kate is on her first private flight everything goes wrong, she ends up in Switzerland on Christmas Island. Kate eventually teams up with an air traffic controller, and will secure her dream job as the family’s pilot.
Hallmark has so many amazing Christmas movies to get right in the holiday spirit. There is such a wide variety to choose from and many to find your favorite. Seykora said, “My favorite of all time would have to be ‘A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe’ though which came out in 2022.” The Hallmark variety shares so many great movies to watch all through the Holiday season.
OHS students love the Hallmark channel. OHS sophomore Emily McMasters said, “It gets me excited for Christmas and it gets me in the holiday spirit”.
With all the exciting movies to choose from and more and more new movies coming out every year. The movies always leave you in good spirits too. Mcmasters says, “I love that they all have a happy ending”.
