The Owatonna Boys Swim and Dive regular season is coming to an end. The team is now looking forward to sections and a run at state. The team lost many seniors from last year, however, they have had a very successful year so far. The team is coached by Peter Rhodes, Tara Lammers, and Chris Snow.
The team has many individuals hoping to make it to state and looking to get new school records.
Looking to sections, assistant coach Lammers said, “They are going after the 400 Freestyle record at Big 9, which is currently held by our head coach, is Isaiah Smith, David Rhodes, Carter Quam, and Matthew Larson. The same team is going for the 200 Freestyle Relay record and state cut. Henry Hilgendorf is hoping to make the state cut in diving, which is the top 4 divers in the section.”
The OHS team is going to continue to practice hard to achieve their goals and break school records. The team has had big accomplishments this year and is hoping to have more for the remaining part of their season.
Senior Isaiah Smith said, “Some big accomplishments we’ve had was being 6-0 until we faced Mankato East. It was our best record we’ve had at least as far as I know. Another big accomplishment is we broke the pool record in the 200 free relay at True team sections and we have a chance for a state cut in that race.”
The Huskies had a great season and with sections and state just around the corner, they are hoping to continue to do well and work hard.
The boys compete next at sections with swimming on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at noon and diving on Thursday, Fed. 22 at noon both events in Lakeville at the Blanchard Aquatic Center.
