Josh Torkelson
One of OHS’ new teachers is Mr. Josh Torkelson. He is originally from Pine Island, Minnesota. After high school, he attended Winona State University for his bachelor’s degree and went to Concordia University, St. Paul to get his master’s degree. In his free time, Mr. Torkelson listens to music, spends time with friends and family, plays video, board games and spends time outdoors. Before getting hired at OHS, Mr. Torkelson worked at Kasson-Mantorville High School teaching special education. This is his eighth year teaching. He teaches math and transition classes, which were made to help students build skills to prepare for life after high school. Mr. Torkelson said, “[My advice for students is to] make the most out of every day, time goes by fast and your high school experience is what you make of it.” Mr. Torkelson is located in room 326 in the morning, and he is located in room 300 in the afternoon.
Emmeline Liske
Another one of the new teachers is Ms. Emmeline Liske. Her role at OHS is being an accompanist for Choir Director Ms. Paula Asmus. Ms. Liske is originally from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She went to University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire for college. Some of her hobbies include music, playing the piano, learning to play the guitar and biking. This is her first job after college. Ms. Liske said, “[My advice to students is to] be true to yourself and what makes you happy, and don’t let yourself be swayed by the opinions of others.” Ms. Liske is often either in the choir room, auditorium, an ensemble room or anywhere around the music wing.
Hannah Wolters
Ms. Hannah Wolters is another new teacher at OHS. This is her first year in the education system. Her role at OHS is as a behavior interventionist. Ms. Wolters helps kids who need a break from class. She was born and raised in Owatonna. Ms. Wolters completed a year at Empire Beauty School in Bloomington, Minnesota. Some of her hobbies are watching and playing sports, shopping, being with her two kids and hanging out with family. Before working at OHS, Ms. Wolters worked at Jostens where she entered and audited cover and diploma orders for high schools. Ms. Wolters said, “[My advice for students is to] try your best and ask for help if you need it.” Ms. Wolters is often walking around the school, but she has an office in room 240-C.
Cole Orlowski
Mr. Cole Orlowski is a behavior interventionist, new at OHS this year. This means he helps kids who need a break from class. Mr. Orlowski was born and raised in town. He went to Minnesota West Community and Tech College to study power line technology. After that, he switched and went into real estate. Mr. Orlowski got his real estate license and has worked in that field for the last eight years. Some of his hobbies are coaching football and spending time with friends, family and his three dogs. His advice for high school students is, “Enjoy it, time goes by fast. At the time you might not think you want to be here. But I would recommend trying everything.” He is also often walking around the school but he has his office, room 240-C.
Rosana Fior Seguro
Ms. Rosana Fior Seguro is a new staff member here at OHS. A success coach here at the OHS, her aim is to support mainly Spanish speaking students and families, facilitating communication between school, parents and students. Ms. Seguro’s last job was a success coach at the ALC. She has been teaching online for seven years to students across the country. Ms. Seguro is originally from Brazil and has dual citizenship in both Brazil and Italy. She went to college in Curitiba in Brazil and Stuttgart in Germany for her language course. She went to Queretaro in Mexico for her master’s degree. Some of her hobbies consist of traveling, reading and cooking. She is also a mother of three. Ms. Seguro’s advice for students is, “Behavior is something that differentiates a middle schooler from a high schooler. They would have to start having more independence in middle school.” Ms. Seguro can be found in room 212-B.
