In 2017, Fortnite took off and was one of the top games. It is now about to make a huge release again with them coming back with “Chapter 1 – Season 1” on Dec 6, 2024. Fortnite will be re-adding the original map and the original features. This has a lot of people anticipating the updated game version. 

For many players, people saw Fortnite as a prime era of gaming due to the strong memories when they first touched the game. The combination of building and battle royale was something that the gaming community had not seen before. The return of this game has a chance to bring back a passion that those players once had.

The original map consisted of the iconic locations of Pleasant Park, Loot Lake, Greasy Grove, Flush Factory and more. These locations were a staple in the childhood of many kids who play video games. The return of these locations are going to bring back memories and remind players of the simpler times when the game was just taking off.

In addition to the original map coming back, they are also adding the original mechanics of the game back. Over the past couple of years, Fortnite has undergone numerous changes, with new weapons, items and mechanics being added and removed. While these updates have kept the game fresh and exciting, many different players have wanted to go back to how it used to be.

Current students at OHS are looking forward to the updates to the game. Adding new tools to the game will cause the game to receive more recognition. Senior Tayte Berg and Fortnite clan leader said, “The game is dying, and it needs the hype.”

The gaming company Epic Games kept being asked by the community to bring “OG Fortnite” back. Epic Games saw the feedback from the community and decided it was only right. Epic Games is showing a strong commitment to their community by making this decision to honor the game’s legacy.
