Owatonna Track and Field has many seniors that have signed to continue their athletic career at the collegiate level.
Halle Theis is attending University of Minnesota, Duluth and is going to major in graphic design. Theis is continuing track in college at the Division II level because she fell in love with the sport when she joined her sophomore year. When she found out that she got the chance to continue in college she knew that she wanted to take the opportunity. Theis chose University of Minnesota, Duluth because the campus itself is nice and it had the exact major that she wanted to go into. When Theis met the coaches on the track staff they were extremely welcoming to her and she knew it was the right fit for her.
Jozie Johnson is attending the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and is majoring in nursing. Jozie is continuing her track and field career at the Division III level because it was something she enjoyed over the years, and she has always had a passion for it. Some of the specific reasons she chose to attend University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire are because of how welcoming the coaches and track team both are, and how well the coaches maintain the team.
Maya Badger is attending Luther College and is undecided on what she is majoring in. Badger is choosing Luther College because they have reached out to her and wanted her to run for them. She was unsure if she wanted to continue her athletic career after high school, but after she toured Luther College she knew that it was the school she wanted to attend. Badger always had fun running track in high school so she decided to try it out at the collegiate level. She will be continuing track at Luther College at the Division III level.
Jennifer Jones is attending St. Cloud State University and is majoring in nursing. Jones is continuing her athletic career at the Division I level because track has always been a significant part of her life. She knew that she wanted to compete at the collegiate level from a young age. Jones tried out many other sports, but track and field stuck out the most to her. Jones chose St. Cloud State University because of the nursing program, campus environment and the team atmosphere. Jones would like to thank Coach Elle and Coach Frankie for blessing her with this opportunity and making her dream come true.
Lucas Smith is attending Concordia University, St. Paul. Smith is continuing his track and field career at the Division II level. Smith is majoring in criminal justice because he wants to get his basics done. Smith is attending Concordia University because it is a bigger city which could open up more opportunities for him. Smith chose to continue his athletic career because track is all he has ever known. Concordia also will help pay for his schooling, which is another contribution on why Smith chose to attend here. After college, Smith wants to join the fire academy.
Seth Johnson is attending the University of St. Thomas and is undecided on what he is majoring in. Seth Johnson is continuing his athletic career at the Division I level because sports have been a part of his life since he was a kid, and he wanted to continue to play sports as long as he possibly can. Seth Johnson chose University of St. Thomas because their business degree is one of the best in the Midwest. Another reason he chose this college is because the team was very welcoming to him and he enjoyed them a lot.
Jack Sorenson is attending Minnesota State University, Mankato and is continuing his track and field career at the Division II level. Sorenson is going to major in education. Sorenson decided to continue running in college because he loves it and he has always wanted to go to the next level. Sorenson chose Minnesota State University, Mankato because of the coaches and they have an amazing education program.
