OHS had many commits this year for National Signing Day. This year there were three commits for Baseball. Those committing are Hunter Theis, Gavin Saxton and Connor Wiese.
Hunter Theis – Hunter Theis will be attending St. John’s University and is going to major in exercise science. Theis is going to continue his athletic career playing Division III baseball at St. John’s. The reason he chose St. John’s was because it was the best spot for him and he also wanted to continue his athletic and academic journey. He wanted to continue his baseball career since it is his favorite sport.
Gavin Saxton – Gavin Saxton will be attending Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) and is going to be studying Sports Management. Saxton is going to continue his athletic career playing NJCAA baseball at RCTC. The reason he chose RCTC was because his hitting coach suggested it as he went to junior college (JUCO) and he has a better chance of playing and developing more. Saxton wanted to continue his athletic career as, “it has always been my dream to go to the MLB and this is just one step in my staircase to that goal.”
Connor Wiese – Connor Wiese will be attending St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and will be studying Business Finance, Business Intelligence and Analytics. Wiese is going to continue his athletic career playing Division III baseball at St. Mary’s. Wiese said, “My top reasons as to why I chose Saint Mary’s was because it felt like home the moment I stepped on campus, everyone was welcoming and it felt like a close community, the coaches and players were amazing, and they are a catholic university which aligns with my religious values.” The reason he chose to continue his athletic career is because of the sheer love he has for the game.
