The Owatonna Girls Soccer team had plenty of commits on national signing day. Those who committed are Kennedy Schammel, Anna Mollenhauer, Kelli Waypa and Isabella Muir.
Kennedy Schammel committed to Ouachita Baptist University at the division ll level. She said “I never questioned not playing at the next level for soccer strictly due to the fact that soccer has taught me so much more than just kicking the ball around. But the importance of what it means to work hard and to make the sacrifice for your goals and if you are passionate about something, give it your all.” She chose Ouachita because she felt like she belonged and wanted to be a part of it in order to be successful.
Kelli Waypa committed to play college at Dordt University at the division ll level. Waypa chose this school “Their christian values and the family-like community around campus and in all sports and classes.” Another reason she chose to continue soccer in college is “It has been a big part of my life and I always knew that I wanted to continue and be involved in it at a higher level.”
Anna Mollenhauer committed to play at the College of St. Benedicts which plays at a division lll level. Mollenhauer always wanted to continue her love of the sport and she said, “soccer has become a part of my life and it would be hard to be without it.” She also chose it because she really likes the coaches and environment.
Izzy Muir committed to play at Luther College which plays at the division lll level. She chose this school because of the beautiful campus it has and she got direct Admission into the nursing program. The reason she chose to continue her athletic career is because she loves the environment.
