This year the National Honor Society of Owatonna is holding the 3rd annual NHS color run. This event will take place at the Owatonna High School, Saturday, May 10th. The NHS color run is a great event to bring your family and friends together for a morning of fun. It is also a great way to give back to the community because all proceeds benefit the community pathways of Steele County.
There are a few different events throughout the morning. The silent auction, registration/check-in and pre-race social will start at 7:30AM. The kids fun race begins at 9AM and there is a $10 registration fee. The 5k fun run begins at 9:30AM and there is also a $10 registration fee. The silent auction is put together by students in the NHS.
Participants should wear white and can expect colorful chalk to be thrown at them from the start of the race to the finish. Music and other fun activities aid in the atmosphere of this event.
Color week at OHS starts Monday, May 5th, where the school can help spread positivity that will lead up to the NHS color run. Each day of the week is a day to dress up in different colors.
Mr. Kringen, one of the advisors of Owatonna NHS, said, “My favorite part of the color run is the day of everything and everyone starts showing up. You get to see all of the work come together.” The hard work from the advisors, in addition to the NHS club members, as they assemble such an important event, really comes together and allows them to see their ideas come to life.
Participating in color week and the color run is a great way to give back and spend time with the community. Don’t forget to wear white and have fun!
