This last week brought great excitement for Owatonna with all the homecoming activities. The annual Homecoming parade was on Friday, September 19, 2025 and took place in downtown Owatonna.
Floats, royalty, and sports teams came cruising through the streets, handing out candy and other sorts of trinkets. This opportunity allowed students to show grateful appreciation by waving and engaging in the community. Those involved in the parade worked hard to execute a great homecoming.
The community enjoyed seeing the different types of clubs and floats that were in the parade . OHS Junior Grace McGinn said, “I always really like the girls’ cross country one because it stands out from the others because it’s not really a float.” Building these floats allowed for our community to come together and work on something that they all would be proud of. The float building brings creativity and originality to our school, showing diversity and inclusion. Everyone has a part to play in homecoming regardless of their background.
Huskies enjoy the tradition of the parade for homecoming. It helps bring everyone in the community together to celebrate the high school and all the activities throughout the week. OHS Junior Nicolina Brossard said, “I get really excited for this time of year because it brings everyone together…I think homecoming is a way for everyone to connect and grow.” Much love from the community this time of year for its upbringing in school spirit. It is more than a celebration but a gathering of the community.
The tradition of homecoming has been in Owatonna for a long 32 years and the community will always go above and beyond to make Homecoming bolder the years previous. The huskies work incredibly hard to make Owatonna’s homecoming bigger and better every single year.
The school spirit for the Owatonna Huskies is what drives our school to be better and bolder. Owatonna takes pride in its homecoming and doesn’t plan to let it grow old.
