After the long offseason full of practice and hard work, the Owatonna High School Boys Hockey Team has started the year off with a record of 1-2. The team spent many hours on the ice getting ready, and the players were excited to finally start their season.
The boys are coached by Head Coach Dennis Will and assisted by Justin Fletcher, James Wagner, Devin Laiho and Paul Martinson. The team is also led by Captains/seniors Jackson Kath and Isaac Mobley, along with junior Captain Grady Roush.

Roush said, “A goal I have for our hockey team this year is to be Big 9 champs. Our team is young and skilled and I think we have a shot at doing it.”
The OHS Boys Hockey Team started off on the road against Farmington. They played a hard-fought game but ended up with a loss, 2-4. Four days later they traveled to New Prague and played another strong game, scoring 5 goals, but they still ended up losing 5-7 in a high-scoring battle.
Mobley said, “The first two teams we faced off against were some of the best teams we will play. I’m not too worried.”
On Dec. 2, the Huskies faced off against Austin on the road again and came out with a big 3-2 victory. The team played hard the whole game, and getting their first win of the season boosted their confidence.
Now the Huskies look forward to their first home game on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna, where they will take on the Faribault Falcons. The players are excited to skate on their home ice and hope to start building momentum as the season continues.
