The long-awaited new season of “Stranger Things” has finally arrived. After four years of wondering and conspiring, the fans hit with new and exciting episodes. Not only do the Stranger Things cast deliver a horror and suspenseful film, they also reunite in a way that brings love and friendship back into the show.
Season five will be released in three separate parts. Volume one debuted on November 26 with four new episodes. Volume two will be released December 25 with three episodes and the season finale on December 31.
The fans have watched the main characters: Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, Will Byers and Eleven grow up on screen from when they first started in season one. They started filming around the ages of 11 and 12 years old, to now being in their early twenties in season five. The original cast including Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, Jonathan Byers, Joyce Byers, and Jim Hopper executed a strong and memorable first season. After the hit TV show skyrocketed in 2016, more seasons were requested. As more seasons debuted, more popular characters such as Max Mayfield, Robin Buckley and Vecna were introduced.
“Lucas is my favorite because he’s real and shows loyalty to his friends,” said Senior Mubarak Hassan. A lot of people find comfort in how bonded the friendships are in this show. They are always seen to be there for each other and grow in ways that showcase reality. This show is also a huge hit because of how young and attractive the characters are. Most of the main characters are the high school age so a lot of the fans can relate to them in that way. “I like Steve because he looks good,” said Senior Vivian Gieseke.

Since this season took so long to come out, there has been a lot of anticipation. Waiting for a long period leads people to have very high expectations, as they were left on a cliff hanger at the end of season four. The season ended with explosive events that led the antagonist, Vecna, to have access to the city of Hawkins, Indiana, where the story takes place.
“I think season four was a little dragged on,” said Senior Ellie Meiners, “but when we got to season five it made more sense because we can see where it’s going.”
Senior Naomie DeLaRosa adds, “I think this season plays into all the seasons by going back into the past. It’s different because of the context we already have. It also has a lot of gore and more action scenes than previous seasons.”
Vecna was introduced in season four and is the show’s main, unsettling villain. “Stranger Things” is filled with terrifying creatures, creepy moments, unpredictable scenes and lots of suspense. It can be hard to watch at times but totally worth the moments of discomfort.
As of right now, the last episode out of season five, episode four, is rated the most popular “Stranger Things” episode ever. There were many moments that left fans in shock, but the main one was when one of the main characters, Will Byers, saved the lives of his best friends. Senior Lance Bretl says, “I was so surprised to see Will gain superpowers because no one saw it coming.” This episode left fans with the itch to keep watching and excitement for the new episodes to come out.
“Stranger Things” is already in the Top 10 TV shows in the U.S. Today, according to Netflix. It continues to bring joy, terror, and yearning for the upcoming episodes to debut.
