When it comes to fast and easy sandwiches, two of the biggest names are Jimmy John’s and Subway. Both restaurants are popular across the United States and are known for their fresh subs, quick service and customizable meals. However, people often debate which one
is better. The answer depends on what you care about most between speed, taste, price or variety.
One reason some people prefer Jimmy John’s is because of its speed. The company is famous for calling its service “freaky fast.” Many customers say they can get in and out of the store in just a few minutes. Jimmy John’s also focuses on simple, fresh ingredients. Their bread is baked daily, and their menu is smaller, which makes ordering quicker and easier.
Someone who likes Jimmy John’s from Owatonna High School is junior Sam Dulas. He said, “It tastes better because the products are a lot fresher. Also the employees are a lot nicer, the restaurant is a lot cleaner and the prices are cheaper.”
On the other hand, Subway is known for its large variety of options. Customers can choose from different types of bread, meats, cheeses, vegetables and sauces. This makes it a good choice for picky eaters or people with dietary restrictions. Subway also offers more healthy options, such as salads and lower-calorie sandwiches.
A Subway supporter from OHS is senior Andrew Beaver and he said, “I like Subway because of the fresh bread and strong flavors. There also seems to be more options at Subway and I also really like the chipotle sauce.”
Price is another important factor. Subway often has deals and promotions, which can make it cheaper. However, some people feel that Jimmy John’s ingredients taste fresher or higher quality. This can make customers feel like they are getting better value, even if the price is slightly higher.
The atmosphere is slightly different too. Jimmy John’s usually has a simple, straightforward menu posted on the wall, while Subway
employees build your sandwich in front of you step-by-step. Some people enjoy watching their sandwich being made, while others prefer the fast grab-and-go style at Jimmy John’s.
In a survey posted on the OHS Magnet instagram page, there was a poll asking if students liked Jimmy Johns or Subway better? The pole came back 44% Jimmy Johns (89 people) and 56% Subway (111 people).
Both Jimmy John’s and Subway have strengths and weaknesses. Jimmy John’s may be better for people who want speed,simple and fresh sandwiches. Subways may be better for people who want more choices and healthier options.
How people decide on which sandwich restaurant is better depends on their own personal preference.
