The 2025-26 school year is coming to an end, and this is what students are excited about for summer break, and they can’t wait for summer to be here.

Sophomore Arya Buttera said, “I’m excited to hang out with a bunch of friends and make a bunch of memories.”

Junior Zackery Parker said, “I think I’m excited for the fair.”

Vacation mentioned Junior Landen Amundson

“I’m excited to work at the blast.” Junior Marley Kenow said.

Delia Neumann, Kennedy Kollar, June Froman, and Chole Eastman said that, “We’re excited to be outside and swim and be able to tan.”

I’m excited to go jet ski on the lake this summer,” said excitingly by Amelia Moran.

Ellie Hartle is excited for “The Fair.”

Taelyn Klein mentioned, “I’m excited to hang out with friends and family.”

Jameson Gibson proudly said, “No school.”

Sophomore Sophia Cupkie said, “Being able to drive.”

McKenzie Tripp said, ”Marching Band.”

Brynn Routh explained, “I’m excited for no sports since I’m finally graduating, I won’t have any tryouts, I won’t have anything to prepare for besides college, and I kinda get to do whatever I want this summer, which is kinda nice.”

Junior Kate Cowell mentioned, I’m so excited, just honestly, to get tan and to be by the pool, and hang out with friends whenever I want, and just not to be in the school building for 7 hours a day.

“I’m excited to hang out with friends and to not be in school every day,” said McKenna Edel

Hunter Truax very boldly said, “To go to the pool.”

Tanner Lehrer is simply excited to go camping.

“I’m excited to leave Minnesota,” a senior, Riley Kreeger, said.

Orrin Ornelas is ready to get his tan on by “Going to the waterpark.”

For students, everyone has many different things they are excited about for summer break, and are ready to burst through the school doors on the last day of school into the nice June air, leaving textbooks behind to chase adventures they have been waiting for all year long.

Aliah Fischer, Photographer

Aliah Fischer is a sophomore at Owatonna High School and this is her first year in Magnet. Fischer wrestles and plays lacrosse for OHS as well as being involved in FFA and 4H. She also enjoys working with animals, and in particular really enjoys spending time with her horses as well as running rodeo circuits, barrel racing and pole bending. After high school Fischer is looking into potentially becoming an animal chiropractor, building off of her love for livestock. A fun unique fact about Fischer is that she is able to drive any length of trailer without a struggle. One of Aliah’s other hobbies that got her into Magnet was her interest in photography, as that is one of the things she looks forward to doing most here at Magnet.

Kyrene Simon, Writer

Kyrene Simon is a junior at Owatonna High School. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Simon participates in gymnastics not at the high school level but at Owatonna Gymnastics Club. She also loves coaching the younger girls and teaching them the sport she knows and loves at Owatonna Gymnastics Club. Her favorite color is blue and you can tell by her bubbly personality. Simons is not sure yet what her plans are after high school but her end goal is to be a Veterinarian. This is Simon’s first year in OHS Magnet staff, she’s very excited even though she was just placed in this and didn’t choose it.
