Robotics Regionals were held at the Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wis Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21. Owatonna High School’s Robotics team was challenged right off the bat with extensive fundraising in order attend the event. Robotics member, Kyle Lewis, said, “We were challenged by our own principles and our advisor, Mrs. Rose, to raise $2,500 in a single weekend. We surprised ourselves and raised $3,500.” This alone is outstanding and quite impressive. To begin the event, members began arriving on Thursday to set up the robots for practice and inspection. Others from OHS’s team left Friday at 2:00 a.m. in order to arrive by the starting time of 8:00 a.m.

While in Milwaukee, the team competed against 59 other teams. Although they did not win, they learned a lot for next time. Robotics Admiral Ethan Schulz said, “We had an amazing time seeing a whole new set of robots at another competition. We gained lots of knowledge that we will apply to our next season to help us improve. It was a great experience to be able to go to a second regional this year.” The next competition for robotics is the state regionals. It will be held in early May.
