The OHS Girls Hockey team is off to a hot start this year with a current standing of 7-3 overall. The team is returning 12 players and is led by senior captains Peyton DeVinny, Jessica VonRuden and Meghan Rethemeier. DeVinny said, “I’m looking forward to having a strong rest of the season with our team and hopefully playing in the section finals this year.” Team chemistry is high this year and having so many players returning to the ice has been contributing to the girls’ success this year. Coach Tim Hunst has been very pleased with his team’s collaboration this year. Hunst said, “Our team has had great chemistry from day one. It starts with the leadership our captains have shown and is supported by all of our team members. Everyone has a role.”

VonRuden is also a main contributor to the Husky’s offense. In Tuesday night’s game game vs. Rochester Century, VonRuden scored five goals and led the team to an 8-1 victory. VonRuden also scored four goals in the team’s 4-2 win against Rochester Mayo. VonRuden said, “My success in the recent games was because of my team. We were all making passes and working together and that made the opportunities possible for me to score goals.” The Huskies will play at home on Dec.10 vs. rival Faribault at 7p.m. located at the Owatonna Four Seasons Center.
