OHS Boys Basketball falls to Faribault

The Owatonna Boy’s Basketball team is very well- rounded this season. Returning seven players to the varsity court, head coach Josh Williams is hoping the experience can help lead the Huskies to a solid start, especially with seven out of their first nine games being on the road. Williams said, “I hope and expect that the experience of our seniors and returning letter winners will help us to get a jump on the season and knowing what the expectations are.” This year’s captains are seniors Alex Emanuelson and Eli Havelka.

The Huskies started off the year with a tough schedule, playing three state ranked teams in their first five games. However, the team has managed to maintain a steady record of 3-4 overall, and 3-3 in the Big 9. Emanuelson is excited for his senior season. He said, “I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with the guys and having a successful season.” The team faced Faribault Tuesday night and lost a tight game in overtime, 51-56. The Huskies will play at home on Dec. 22nd versus Rochester Century at 7:30 p.m. The team will also be home over Christmas break to play in the annual Federated Holiday Classic Tournament hosted in Owatonna when they will play Milwaukee South at 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 29th and a follow up game on Dec. 30th. Time and opponent for the second game is TBD.
