Swinging into first place
The Owatonna Girls Gymnastic team shattered previous school records at the Park of Cottage Grove Invite on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Huskies scored 149.4 points at the event and also outscored top ranked Roseville, who scored 148.6 points. Owatonna set three school records on the vault, balance beam and floor. Freshman Ali Ann scored 37.55 points all around and received 4th place. Senior captain Stephanie Kretlow was right behind in fifth with 37.5 points. Seventh grader Lindsay Bangs received 6th place with 37.5 points and sophomore Becca Olson came in ninth with 36.7. Big 9 and Sections are just around the corner, Kretlow said, “I’m really excited for sections, we are expected to make it to state and it would really be a disappointment if we didn’t.” The Big 9 Conference meet is set for Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1:00 p.m. and the section team meet is on Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m., both hosted at home.
