Huskies gearing up for postseason play
The Owatonna Boys Hockey regular season came to a close on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The Huskies finished the season with an overall record of 15-9-1 and an impressive Big Nine record of 12-5. The season ended on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Austin. Saturday was also Senior day for the Huskies and was the last home game that the Owatonna Seniors will ever play. Senior defenseman, Nick Brown said, “I’ve made a lot of memories with these guys that I will never forget. It’s been a pleasure being teammates with all of them. I’m excited to see what we can do in Section play.”
The team is happy with what they have accomplished this season, but is far from ready to be done. The Huskies received the 5th seed in the Section 1AA tournament. Their opponent will be Rochester John Marshall who holds a 16-5 record. The John Marshall Rockets received the 4th seed and will host the Huskies on Thursday, Feb. 18. The Rockets have defeated the Huskies twice already this season, but the team is expecting a different outcome this time around. Head coach Josh Storm says, “A game like this is why you play high school hockey. Section play has been what we have been working for all season long.” Come support the Owatonna Boys Hockey team on Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Recreation Center in Rochester, MN.
Update: the OHS Boys Hockey Team lost to JM 3-1 and ended their season.
