OHS Boys Basketball JV team goes undefeated

Nathan Deason, Writer

In high school sports, we commonly see a variety of talent spread across the board from the ninth grade level all the way up to the varsity level. In the Owatonna Boy’s Basketball program, talent is packed to the roof across the top two teams, varsity and JV. This season, the not so “junior” varsity, ended their regular season with an astonishing 26-0 record. Junior, Ethan Dekam commented saying, “It feels great to see all the hard work pay off going undefeated. I love this group of guys and we had a ton of fun together this year.” Not only did this team put up 26 consecutive wins, but they did this with a varying lineup almost every game. At the end of the year, Head coach “Doc” Schuster addressed his team saying, “I’m so proud of you guys. You just accomplished something really special.” Great team and individual success became constant variables within this team, as players from JV emerged onto the varsity scene. Junior guard, Jacob Neuharth said, “The last undefeated JV team went to state the next year as a varsity team, I feel we will do the same.” From freshmen to juniors, not a step was lost on the court this year. With growing expectations for next year, watch out for these boys. With a packed gym and a growing charismatic appeal, Owatonna Boy’s Basketball is preparing themselves to become a dominant force in the Big 9 for years to come.
