It’s time again for the annual National Honors Society Talent Show at OHS. Sponsored by Owatonna DECA and put on by NHS, the purpose of this show is put on every year to raise money for a charitable organization.

NHS will have plenty to do to prepare for this event. With the event three weeks away, many NHS students have gone to work to make it successful. Senior and NHS Chair Emma Smith said , “We find the acts to perform and audition. NHS and DECA do a lot of behind the scenes work that most don’t know about.”

All proceeds will be going to provide clean water to the Municipal School of Campo Largo, through the Rotary Club. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 before and after school in the Small Group Forum.  Acts will be notified a designated time before or after school to audition on those dates.  Acts are submitted and reviewed by the committee, before auditions.  The acts will then perform live in front of committee members at auditions to be reviewed and altered to the committee discretion, in order to be approved for the show.  Cash prizes will be awarded to first second and third place winners.  Auditions will be held in order for the committee to view the acts that are going to participate in the show.  No act will be “cut” during auditions, however, all acts must be viewed before the show.

The talent show has been a success year after year. This year’s new adviser, Mr. Jon Nelson said, “We are hoping for a great turnout and a great show this year.” This year’s talent show will have no absence of talent. The NHS talent show has been a popular, annual event at OHS. What makes the talent show special to Mr. Nelson is, “It’s neat to see kids who are good at something other than athletics or arts. It gives kids an opportunity to express their different talents.”  Auditions will be next Tuesday and Wednesday before and after school in the auditorium. The NHS/ DECA talent show will be Saturday, March 12 in the OHS Auditorium at 7 p.m.
