Fans of Harry Potter from all over the world were devastated to hear the recent news
that the actor who played the sarcastic, yet also endearing ‘anti-hero’, Severus Snape, had passed away. He was loved dearly by not only the dedicated fans of his work, but also by his loving friends and co-workers. Immediately after hearing of his death, J.K. Rowling – the author of the Harry Potter series – sent out a tweet saying, “There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman’s death. He was a magnificent actor and a wonderful man.” While Snape’s character was no doubt his most recognized role, he also played many roles such as Tybalt in BBC’s television adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Hans Gruber in Die Hard and the voice of Absolem the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland. Rickman died at the age of 69 on Jan. 14, of this year after suffering a minor stroke which also lead to his battle with pancreatic cancer.
