The 2015-2016 Boys Track and Field team was ecstatic to start their season. Senior sprinting captain, Jacob Johnson, exclaimed, “After we had a solid warmup meet at the U of M, we were fully prepared to compete in our home Co-ed meet!” The other three captains joining Johnson are Jake Borchert-the jumping captain, Lane Theisse-the throwing captain and Nelson Jourdan-the long distance captain. These captains have successfully led their team to a dominant home victory in the co-ed relays against the Park Center Pirates and the Patrick Henry Patriots.

Highlighting this exciting victory was the electric four by four hundred meter dash. This team was composed of Ali Golberg, Ryan Guenther, Sara Anderson, and Jacob Johnson. This pieced together relay team stunned the home crowd by producing a victory so dominant that they exceeded their own expectations. “Running in this Co-ed relay was truly a unique opportunity. Our relay team knew that we had to produce a stellar performance, and I feel we did just that.”

This race was a microcosm of how this team plans to win the rest of their remaining meets.

The Huskies added another victory to their dominant season, defeating the John Marshall Rockets and the Red Wing Wingers. The Rockets came with a fiery group of sprinters, and the Wingers came with an arsenal of fasted paced long distance runners, however, the depth and the balance of the Huskies proved to be critical in the victory.

The next time you can catch the OHS Boys Track and Field Team at home will be Tuesday, May 3, when take on the Northfield Raiders and the Winona Winhawks.
