Teeing off the year

The OHS Boys Golf Team is off to a quiet start this season. Participating in 4  non-conference invitationals, the Huskies have finished in the top half of every invite. Consistent low scoring rounds are giving the Huskies a reason to keep focused and not let up for conference play. The Big 9 Conference is similar in talent as it was in previous years with Owatonna at the top with Red Wing and Mankato East. The Huskies look to pull in another conference title this year.

Pouring in multiple great rounds of golf, the Huskies are lead by captains, Andrew Wall and Gage Schuster. Both captains have won individual honors in early season invites this year.  Wall said, “We’re looking to pick up where we left off last year and continue improvement throughout the season.” The Huskies are looking to continue their success.

The Huskies kicked off conference play on Monday, April 18 with a dual at Mankato East where they put up 337, anchored behind the  runner-up finisher from Andrew Wall with a score of 76. Unfortunately, they fell short to East who put up a 312 with their own Carson Haley finishing as the medalist. The Huskies continued conference play on Tuesday, April 26, with a meet at Winona where they finished third with a 361 behind Winona who scored a 339 and Northfield who scored a 325. Their first home meet against Faribault was postponed due to weather on Thursday, April 28.

Look for the boys to be back in action on the road at Rochester Century for a meet on Monday, May 2 at 2:30 p.m.
