Let the battle commence
Rated PG-13, Captain America: Civil War, the third installment in the Marvel’s Captain America series, is currently ranked as the number one most anticipated movie of 2016. This two-hour long film will spotlight the breaking point as tensions begin to grow between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). The film receiving an eight point five on IMDB is the one most people are eagerly awaiting. Already on the social media scene, the #TeamCaptainAmerica or #TeamIronMan is beginning to surface in anticipation of the film’s release.
Taking place after its previous film, Captain America: Winter soldier, Civil War will be following Captain America. Due to the collateral damage the Avengers left behind in their last battle, a political debacle between the superheroes about accountability is when things get heated. This disagreement results in the battle of a lifetime- one not to miss. It comes down to Captain America vs. Iron Man as other superheroes join in. It will mark the comic book’s and film’s biggest cross- over yet.
In preparation for the fight, both begin to recruit other superheroes who are choosing a side. Marvel, sticking to the comics, is planning to bring characters such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Ant-man (Paul Rudd), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the most surprising, Spider-Man (Tom Holland), as well as many others. Sadly, Spider-Man will not not be play by the film’s previous actor Andrew Garfield. The new actor, Holland, will have to do his best to keep the spirit and heart of Spider-Man intact.
There is also no doubt that the comic’s creator Stan Lee will make an appearance in this year’s film. According to Comic Book Resources, the co-director of Civil War, Anthony Russo, shared his thoughts on Lee’s cameo saying that it fits the story. Russo said, “You’re always looking to keep it different with him, and you want to surprise the audience because they get a kick out of it, but you also want to make it relevant in some way, so he delivers a key piece of information in the movie.”
The film directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and produced by Kevin Feige is said to hit theaters on May 6. To watch the trailer before the film’s release, visit YouTube. Ticket information and times for the film can be found on Northwoods Cinema 10’s website.
