The Owatonna Girls Lacrosse team is dominating in the Big 9 Conference. The Huskies are undefeated in their conference and have a record of 7-1. The girls have now played against each team in the conference once and will be focused on keeping their undefeated record in the conference after playing each team a second time. The OHS Girls Lacrosse team is currently ranked first in their conference and are ranked among the top 25 teams in the state. On May 5, the lacrosse team hosted second seed Rochester Mayo. Rochester Mayo was the only other team in the conference that was undefeated in the Big 9, however, this did not worry the Huskies. Going into the game, the team knew it was crucial for them to be able to compete to be conference champions. Head Coach, Bill Bernard said, “Our game against Mayo was extremely important for our team. Our team played two full halves of lacrosse and bring the momentum into the remainder of our schedule.” The Huskies won the game 12-1. It was a huge victory for the team.

The OHS Girls Lacrosse team had their first loss of the season this past Monday, May 9. They fell to the Farmington Tigers, who have always been tough competition for the team. However, this year the lacrosse team competed better than what their opponent was expecting. Senior captain, Meghan Rethemeier said, “We came ready to play. The team fought hard and stayed with them for most of the game. It just wasn’t the outcome that we were looking for.” At halftime, the score was tied 4-4 and the team was very proud of the effort they had put forth so far. However, it was not enough. The Huskies lost the game 7-10, although they were still proud walking away after the game.

The Huskies next home game will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m.
