State bound: OHS Boys & Girls Track
The Huskies competed well overall at the Section 1AA meet. They were led by a handful of stellar performances, each qualifying for the state meet on June 10th and 11th at Hamline University. Qualifying for this meet were Lance Ulrich and Jacob Johnson in the 110 meter high hurdles, Nick Raichle in the open 400 meter dash, the 4×400 meter relay team, as well as Johnson in the 300 meter hurdles. The boys relay team, Ryan Guenther, Nick Raichle, Jaden Dowhaniuk, and Jacob Johnson commented, “We want to beat our ranking and seeding and place in the finals.” Also qualifying for the meet were Sydney Shultz in the 100 and Steph Kretlow in the 800 as well as a 4 x 200 and the 4 x 100 relay consisting of Sydney Shultz, Karissa Gregory, Margo Achterkirch and Steph Kretlow. The girls relay commented, “We are aiming for first, becoming champions and breaking out personal bests.” Both relays and individuals are excited and ready to compete at Hamline University on Friday, in hopes to reach the finals on Saturday.
