DECA

DECA is a nationally recognized organization that challenges high school students to participate in state and national competitions. Students involved in DECA focus on marketing and entrepreneurship projects, marketing role plays, sales demonstrations, interviews and many more projects involving business start ups, economics and more.

DECA has six executive positions at OHS. These include President Ivette Torres, Vice President of public relations Daniel Keller, Vice President of communications Sam Schuster and Vice President of marketing Katie Segler. Additionally, Treasurer Amy Oldenburg and Secretary Amanda Collins. Scott Pierce said, “We have a good group of officers this year and that is key to how the rest of the year goes. Anyone interested in joining can still do that by seeing me or coming to the next meeting.” If students are interested in joining DECA, the next meeting will be in mid-November and the specific date will be announced soon.

The DECA district competition is on Jan. 13, 2017, followed by the State competition from March 19-21. If DECA places high enough in the State competition, the National DECA Competition will be in Anaheim from April 26-29.
