The Key Club, a service organization, is affiliated with the Owatonna Kiwanis Club. It was started about 17 years ago because YSL students wanted to extend their opportunities to volunteer in the community. Giving back to the community through volunteering is the main focus of the organization.
The Key Club’s service opportunities include volunteering at the Food Shelf, Salvation Army, Clothesline, Toys for Tots and many more. This year their staff consists of President Gwen Larson-McCluskey, Vice President Ellie Rohman and Secretary Rilee Schmidt.
“I believe that volunteering and giving back to the community builds an awareness of needs and makes it a better place. It is fun and fulfilling to be out helping others,” said Valorie Rose. The Key Club meets every other Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. in room A-106 in the Options area.
