When The Force Awakens came out in December of 2015, old and young people alike were interested. Whether they saw the first movie produced in 1977, A New Hope (Episode IV), or had the movies introduced to them as a child, there were many people anticipating the additions to the series. With the next movie in the series coming out this week, Rouge One, the excitement was stirred up again. Thursday, Dec. 15 was the special early showing at Northwoods Cinema 10. Friday, Dec. 16 was the national release date of this new movie. Vari The anticipation was clear from the impressive $155 million brought into the box office just during the opening weekend as stated by Variety.

Rogue One is the eighth movie in the Star Wars series. This movie features the actors: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen and Forrest Whitaker. In this movie, these heroes come together with the a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.

Not only is the Death Star a reminiscent addition to this movie, the Rebel Alliance is back again as well. This movie includes the fighter helmets used in the 70’s in The Return of the Jedi, out of this world special effects and a few surprise characters.

The movie starts with the young Jyn Erso, the main character played by Felicity Jones, on a wasteland planet where she and her parents live hiding from The Empire. Her father, Galen Erso, played by Mads Mikkelson, is taken from the planet, leaving Jyn behind. Shortly later in the movie we meet Cassian Andor played by Diego Luna and K2SO, his droid. They help Jyn on her quest to find her father, join the Rebel Alliance and ultimately steal the plans for the Death Star.

Overall, the average rating of the movie was an 8 out of 10. The plot was a bit predictable, and there was not a lot of character development, but it was still a great addition to the Star Wars series.
