On Nov. 19, at 7 p.m., there is an Owatonna High School band concert in the OHS auditorium. The band is a group of high school students who have put a lot of their time into learning different music pieces and how to play their instrument. Most of the students have been playing their instrument since they were in elementary school. Junior Matthew Kingland, who plays the trumpet for Varisty band, has been playing since he was in fifth grade. Kingland said, “I feel that Mr. Guenther has given us some tough pieces, and that all that bands have been prepared very well for this concert.” There are three different bands: Husky band, Varsity band, and Concert band. Conductor Mr. Peter Guenther said, “I am feeling very very excited to perform this music tonight. The concert is full of pieces with lots of meaning. The audience is definitely in the best seats in the house.” The Husky band will be preforming Sonatina for Band composed by Frank Erickson, Abracadabra composed by Frank Ticheli, and Chant Rituals composed by Elliot Del Borgo. The Varsity band will perform Festivo composed by Vaclav Nehlybel, Dusk composed by Steven Bryant, and Elements composed by Brian Balmages. Concert band will perform Ride composed by Samuel R. Hazo, Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night composed by Elliot Del Borgo, and Vesuvius composed by Frank Ticheli.

On Nov. 21, the orchestra, conducted by Paul Ousley, and choir, conducted by Chris Harris, will have a combined concert at 7 p.m. in the OHS auditorium.
