Huskies have eyes on State

Konner Kubista, Writer

As a tremendous season for wrestling begins to come to a close with the Huskies currently sitting at sixth in the MN state rankings. With two Division I wrestling commits (Peyton Robb and Brandon Moen), the season has been anything but mundane. This season Senior Brandon Moen set a new OHS record by getting his 200 career wins while also having an undefeated season. Junior Peyton Robb is also undefeated this season as both wrestlers and the rest of the team begin to set their eyes on sections and the state tournament.

Robb commented on his focus going into the end of the year, “The key mentality that I have and pass onto the team is that everyone should think you’re the best. If you think you’re the best, you can beat anyone.” Owatonna has a high probability of sending some of their wrestlers into the state tournament. Last years State tournament ended with Brandon Moen winning at 195 pounds and Peyton Robb taking the title back to back at 106 his freshman year and 120 pounds as a sophomore. The Huskies have a home meet tonight at 7 p.m. vs. Faribault.  Sections will begin the week of Feb. 13 and the State tournament will be at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul between Mar. 2-4.
