The Owatonna Boys Basketball has had a very successful season so far. The Huskies overall record is 13-3 (11-3 in the Big 9 conference). Owatonna last played at Red Wing on Feb. 11. The Huskies were in a battle after the first half, but pulled away after a big run throughout the second half, leading by a 30 point margin at one point resulting in an 80-53 win. Junior guard Dalton Kubista commented on the game, “It was very fun to have 2 players with 20+ points in the same game. It was also a good team effort to get a 27 point victory and get some of our confidence back after a tough loss the night before.” Kubista leads the team in points averaging around 20 points a game.

Coach Josh Williams added about the game,“We had a quality win over Red Wing on Feb. 11 80-53. It was also one of the best halves defensively of the season for the Huskies, holding them to just 19 points after the first half. Against Mayo a few days later we had a slow start but finished the game strong on a 19-3 run to win 63-51.” They are looking to win out the rest of the season to get a home playoff game for sections. The Huskies next game is a “breakdown tournament” Saturday Feb. 18 at Hopkins vs. Park Center.
