Here are some new faces at OHS for the 2017-2018 school year.
Mr. Marty Johnson
Mr. Marty Johnson graduated college with a degree in commercial art and art education. Then he became an art teacher in South Dakota. After some time teaching, he decided to teach tennis at private clubs and country clubs. Ms. Ashley Kaplan
Mrs. Ashley Kaplan is a social studies teacher here at OHS that has been teaching for nine years. However, she is new to OHS. Mrs. Kaplan first two years of teaching were spent in Eden Prairie. After teaching in Eden Prairie, she moved to Alaska and taught for two more years. Previously she had been a teacher and a instructional coach in Fairmont school district. Ms. Mary Waterhouse
Ms. Mary Waterhouse is new to OHS this year. When asked why she became a teacher she said, “My mom and sister were teachers, and I liked helping kids to understand concepts.” This is her first year teaching, and she said she is starting off strong. Ms. Alexis Seiffert
Ms. Alexis Seiffert is one of the new additions to the OHS staff. Seiffert said, “My husband, and I always talked about moving to Minnesota if we ever left Iowa, and I met some of the administration at a teacher fair, and I really liked what they had to say, so I applied for the position.
