Boys hockey goes 0-3 on the week
With three games this week the OHS boys hockey team is certainly getting their fair share of games. Despite a tough 5-3 loss on Tuesday Dec. 10 to Shakopee, the team looked to play a tough Mankato West team on Thursday Dec. 12 who is ranked eighth in the state for class single A. The team started out fast getting an early goal from Dallas Hegard on the power play to make it 1-0 just two and a half minutes into the game. Then less than three minutes later the Huskies found the net again with a short-handed goal from Soren Colstrup with a great pass from Noah Scheid. Although the team started out fast the game finally tapered off as the Scarlets netted nine unanswered goals to make it a 9-2 final. The boys had one more game on Saturday Dec. 14 as they faced off against the Rochester Century Panthers. A game in which the huskies started off with a 2-1 lead going into the third period but failed to keep. The boys lost 4-2 with an empty net goal to finish off the game. Junior goalie Greg Somers, who had 40 saves in the team’s 4-2 loss said, “It was a good bounce back start after giving up nine goals on Thursday and even though we lost there were some positives to take from it.” The team’s next game is Tuesday Dec. 19 against Irondale in Blaine at 7 p.m.
Hockey is my life, magnet is pretty cool though.
