In the court room
On Saturday Dec. 14, mock trial participated in a scrimmage event. Nova Classical Academy had four teams, Farmington had two, Holy Family had one, and Owatonna had one. There were 48 lawyers at the event and senior Marna Wal and junior Madalyn Vieths were the outstanding lawyers. The outstanding witness was Senior Madelyn Rysavy.
The group this year has been the largest it has been in the last five years, with 27 members, and three teams. A-team captains are seniors Marna Wal and Matt Van Ommeren. B-team captains are junior Kurt Haugen and senior McKenzie Holton. The C-team captain is sophomore Riley Arthur. Before the event, Arthur said, “I think we’re a lot better than last year and we’ve worked a lot better and harder than last year.” Arthur thinks they will go pretty far this year. Advisor Mrs. Polly Shives said, “We will do fabulous this year. I’m very excited.” The teams are locked in and membership is no longer accessable. They will be having another scrimmage event at the University of Minnesota on Jan. 4, and one at Lakeville South on Jan. 11. Mock Trail Regions will be starting Jan. 16.
