Snow week is from Feb. 12-16 and is a week filled with fun events including; lunch activities, skits, a dance and even a basketball extravaganza. The theme for this year’s snow week is “OHS Olympics 2018.” The theme was picked to relate to the Winter Olympics that will be occurring this year Feb. 9 through Feb.25.

Top 12 King And Queen Candidates

The senior class has chosen: Sarah Spears, Brooke Parker, Claire Borgerding, Clare Keltto, Greta Jacobson, Hannah Gebur, Lexi Falken, Sheldon Jensen, Ian Rubish, Andy Jensen, Will Titchenal, Mason Padilla, Kenny Johnson, Andrew Jackson, Dylan Meier, Braeden Meier, Terrell Conner, Julia Haarstad, Kyra Rahn, Olivia Spatenka, Taylor Szymanski, Kenna West, Ian Crum, Owen Kosolosky and Spencer Steckelberg

Snow week is a great way for seniors to be recognized by their peers. It is also a good week for everyone in the highschool to have fun and be included in different activities. King candidate Will Titchenal said, “It’s an awesome feeling, to know that people think I am funny enough to make it to the court.” The coming of Snow week is just another milestone along the road of graduation and serves as a nice time to relax before the end of senior year. Queen candidate Kenna West said, “It feels kinda weird being in Top 12 because the past three years I’ve watched all the other seniors be names and now I am one.”

The whole school will vote for the King and Queen right after the pepfest in the student’s TMM room on Feb. 9.

Skits

The skits will be on Feb. 9 at the pepfest, which is used to introduce the students that have been selected as Top 5. The students in Top 5 each get to perform a skit. These skits can range from comedy to showing off a special skill. As of recently more have been comedy related. And at the end of all of the skits the students choose their favorites. That is how the king and queen are chosen for snow week.

Lunch Activities

Minute to Win it themed activities on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Thursday, Feb. 15, and Friday, Feb. 16. Prizes will be offered to participants and winners.
On Monday, Feb. 12  and Wednesday, Feb. 14 there will be music on in the lower commons.

Other Activities

With the absence of intramural basketball, a good way for those that do not play basketball anymore is the Basketball Extravaganza. It is on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 8:30-10 at the OHS gym. Another activity included in snow week is the Sadies Dance. The dance is on Friday, Feb. 16 and it is a blacklight dance, so make sure to wear white or bright colors.
