Prom season is near. The Owatonna High School prom theme this year is Old Hollywood. Activities for prom include Grand March, dancing the night away, and after prom. The prom committee is full of junior and seniors girls, and they were given full responsibility in bringing Old Hollywood to life. This committee will take care of all the decorations and planning for Grand March and the dance at the Four Seasons Center. Committee member Regan Ihlenfeld said, “I thought it would be a good experience, a great way to share ideas, and it has been a lot of fun.”

As it is every year, prom is for juniors and seniors or a guest under 21 years old. To bring a date from outside of the OHS, they must show an I.D and fill out a form found on the OHS website. Students must have passing grades, be in good standing to graduate and show positive behavior at the event.

Mrs. Marilyn Olson has been the prom advisor for 5 years and said, “Old Hollywood is one of my favorite themes. The committee has put in a lot of work for organizing and making the grand march look very elegant.” Grand march will take place at the Four Seasons on Saturday, May 12 at 7 p.m. Students attending prom must report to the four seasons before the grand march for line-up. The dance will end at midnight, and the OHS after prom will be held at the Owatonna Middle School from midnight to 4 a.m. The after prom theme is Mardi Gras. Tickets for prom will be sold during all lunches starting in the beginning of May for $60 per couple. After prom tickets will be sold at the same time for $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
