Coming up short
It’s been a tough week for the Owatonna boys hockey team who have lost both games this week to Farmington and Albert Lea.
On Tues. night, the boys hockey team faced off against Farmington. They were going for their sixth straight win after beating Winona, Austin, Rochester Mayo, Faribault and Rochester John Marshall. Unfortunately, the game did not come out in their favor. Farmington beat the Huskies in a shutout, 8-0. Starting in goal for Owatonna was junior Gregory Somers. The game ended with senior Ethan Pfieffer in goal. The boys’ next game is against the Albert Lea Tigers. Senior captain Aaron Kirsch said, “We’re expecting a close game, and it should be fun like always.” The game is home at the Four Seasons Centre on Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
On Thurs. night, the boys fell to Albert Lea in an over time loss 3-2. Senior Peter Hanson opened the scoring for the Huskies in the first period, while senior captain Soren Colstrup added a goal in the second period. Hanson said, “We played well and stuck with them for the first period and half of the second. We just need to start getting on a better track when things aren’t going well so we can be successful.” The Huskies next face off against Mankato West on Saturday. Hanson said, “Go out there, have fun and hopefully get some goals and come out with a big win.” The game is at Mankato’s All Seasons Arena at 2 p.m.
